Brake/Clutch Pedal Upgrades - Ron’s 70 S2 Crossflow

After cleaning and inspection it looked like the original brake/clutch assembly was usable. It was gritty and had a stiff movement. I soaked in solvent for a few days and then manipulated the pedal, while running solvent through the central shaft until it ran clear and the movement was smooth. To prevent getting into this condition again I drilled four holes for 1/8” set screws (2 each for brake and clutch) in the outer tube and 8 holes in the inner tube (rotate the outer tube to drill the second set of holes). I added a grease fitting to the non clutch cable side and a plug on the other side. When the grease in pressured into the central tube the holes allow the grease to lubricate the brake and clutch arms. Use a heave grease and fill until the movement is smooth and grease escapes the joints. Paint before getting grease all over the place. Clean the excess and regrease if the movement gets stiff again.

Parts I used:
1/8” grub screws
90* grease fitting
Cleaning solvent (I used gas, don’t tell anyone)
