S2 seat frames
« on: Monday,December 09, 2019, 08:57:40 AM »
I have stripped down one of my seats to repaint and of course reupholster. The lower back sides are bent in a little, is this normal or just a previous owners way of making the seat a little narrower?

That was me a week or two ago.
Are you doing the upholstery yourself? New foam?
One of my frames had a crack in the front corner where the upright for the rails attaches to the pan.

Hi Gary,
I'm reusing the shaped foam on the sides but replacing the seat and back foam. Will be going with black and grey leather, more of a twin cam style.

Yeah, hoping to do it myself. If I'm useless with the sewing I'll pay someone to do the stitching.

Good luck with the seats. The ones you're using as your model are really nice and if you can do nearly as well as that, you should be proud! Especially since it out of your comfort zone!

Looking forward to the challenge. Here's the leather I'm using and my rough cut new dash out of ribbon mahogany.
