S2 with type 47 features on ebay
« on: Thursday,August 07, 2014, 05:02:28 PM »
Nice car with the current bid at $19,500. I can remember when a Europa - regardless of it's condition - wouldn't get over $7500!

The only Type 47 feature is the air ducting below the fuel-filler-cap.

Just 2 bids !

BIN price of $27,500.

This car has now not sold 5 times on e-Bay. The BIN price has come down progressively, $35,000 - $34,999 - $30,000 - $ 27,500.

Tell him he's dreaming.

I guess that sort of history should put a light bulb on somewhere  :)

I'm well out of touch with prices but it does strike me as on the high side for a partially modified S2. The body looks good but the snag for me is that it's neither one nor the other - it's no longer an S2 but neither is it a 47, not a track car but now less civilized for road use. So to go either way is going to cost money, unless of course it's exactly the spec you want ?  And that's limiting an already small market I'd guess.

To be brutally honest, I can't see anything "racy" on this car except for the Type 47 air ducting. Oh wait, it has a red hand brake lever  ;D

But the ebay-history of this car does not tell a great story. I just wondered that in Germany some Europas are scraping on the 40.000 € mark. For example a "Type 47 inspired" 1970 S2 with 1600 Kent Crossflow engine. It is Type 47 inspired, because its restauraion took place in the same garage as a restauration of an original Type 47 :FUNNY:
