TCS Flywheel spigot bush
« on: Thursday,April 10, 2025, 08:22:14 AM »
Has anyone (in the UK I suppose) ever replaced the flywheel spigot bush in a special? And if so where did you get it. I've searched around the system of all the usual suspects without success, so any help would be greatly appreciated.  I could make one but phosphor bronze is in short supply around this house and I can't finish installing my rebuilt engine without one and the current one is 0.010" oversize.

Have you tried QED in Loughborough?

Yes, I did, along with 6 or 7 others, leaving messages on about 5 of them. However,  Lotus Supplies came back to me late in the afternoon saying they had one and would get it out to me, but too late for yesterday's post which means I will have to wait until next week to begin refitting the engine and box.

Tuesday, Huraah, a postal delivery. However it's the wrong part, it's the one on the internet which has a massive chamfer on it and mine is just a parallel bush. On the phone to Lotus Supplies who say they have never sold anything other that the one they sent me. I said I'd get one made and return theirs. However, upon checking the flywheel I turned it over and lo and behold there is a chamfer type piece on the other side to where I had been looking!!!!
It seems APO had machined out the bore of the spigot and put in a liner without telling me!
So now all is well in the playground and I'm on my way to replacing the engine and 'box.

I suppose that if you have the  facility to get one made it's a quicker, simpler and cheaper way forward.
