Lotus Eclat on BaT bringing $30,000 so far
« on: Wednesday,February 26, 2025, 10:40:50 AM »
This is pretty strange. Previously the highest sale price for an Elite/Eclat/Excel was about $12,000. There are two days left on the auction and this one is bid to $30,000. It is the second bid. The first was for $1977!

I didn't notice that. I guess I either missed it. And I missed the one that sold a few months earlier for $25,000!   :o

I still think those seem high compared to other similar cars. Not that I'm complaining. Those kinds of prices seem to be outliers. I do hope they continue!

They seem to be making a comeback over here, it wasn't that long ago that you could pick up early Eclat/Elite (70/80s version) for peanuts but prices are rising. A mate had an Elite in the 80s and no doubt they're comfortable cruisers, great for long trips but a world away from the Europa/Elan/Elise cars.

The curious thing about this auction (aside from an Eclat going for much more than I thought one would sell for) is that the there were only two bids, the $30,000 winning bid being made on the first day of the auction. Seems strange, for a car that could have conceivably sold for much less.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
