Lotus Factory Tour 2011 Video
« on: Tuesday,January 14, 2025, 04:46:07 PM »
I waited 14 years to publish this video. It's not Europa related, but you might be interested in what the factory floor looked like in 2011. Elise, Exige & Evora all on the same production line. And all hand built. Not a robot in sight.

Why did you wait? NDA or something legal?

I was concerned about revealing something that competitors could use. There was clearly an uneasiness about me walking around with a video camera. So when I returned home I decided the right thing to do was to store the video for future when it wouldn't be an issue.  None of these cars are being manufactured anymore and the factory has changed the way they do production. I'm assuming safe to publish now.

Great video, Certified!! Very different production methods from the mass production car factories I've been to. Besides being built by hand, they are very different cars! Too bad you couldn't include how the tubs (weren't they made in another country?).

It looked like the cage in the race car was made of aluminum?? Surely, the tubes are painted silver to match the aluminum.
