Classic Motor Show - 8 -10th Nov
« on: Tuesday,October 29, 2024, 08:23:13 AM »
Hi to all you Brits out there.
Are any of you going to the Classic Motor Show at the NEC next weekend - 8-10th Nov?
I'll be there all three days with my Europa Special on the Sporting Bears stand selling "Dream Rides" to raise money for children's charities, and it would be great to meet some of you longer time members. We're in one corner of Hall 5, so if you're going come on down and ask for "H" and say hello.

If you've never been (presumably) this is a BIG show, it's hard to get to see it all in one day.
I've read somewhere that there are 40 EXTRA car clubs exhibiting this year.
There is virtually every club you could think of, plus a few you've forgotten.
You hear "I had one of those " etc all through the day. Take your own pasty or sandwich etc, the food is the usual fare, tasteless and expensive

Yes it has got more expensive, along with everything else in the world as we get older.
Also check out the parking, I can't remember if parking is extra, it usually is, but sometimes not. I suppose they think that as we can,(more or less) afford a nice car, then we can afford the parking as well, and as well as the food!

We will definitely see one - sadly I doubt if we will see more.
Lets hope I am wrong - let us know - you're there before me.  :)

Enormous event, rammed full of great exhibitions, dealers, clubs talks. Slightly embarrassed to say I got a little lost because I was too tight to buy a programme. Saw three Europa's.

One white S2 with a 1647 on display owned by Gary….lovely car
One JPS twin cam or special which was part of a ‘be a passenger in a classic car’ thing along with a cracking yellow S2 which had inset Lucas fog/driving lights alongside the air intake. Sorry I missed to speaking to those owners.

As I was walking home saw the yellow S2 just driving back in looking and sounding great.

Great day out and worth the weighty entrance fee

Well - as per the photo, I did go.
In my ignorance I did not realize that your car was not effectively "on show" - I had it in my mind that I could walk around your car, meet you and engage in conversation; alas that was not to be.
As per S2Zetec54's comment, I saw an S2 on the Lotus Drivers stand, another in the Dream Rides paddock and a picture only of of yours, (as shown attached).
For the record S2Zetec54, the programs were free..... :FUNNY:
Did I enjoy it? "No"
I found myself searching for a place just to site down some where, take a breath and read the program - that way I would have better understood the apparent chaos that surrounded me; walking amongst crowds of people at a car show, many of which drinking beer at 10.30 in the morning, was very foreign to me.
I am clearly old - and was happy to leave.  :'(

Oh dear how embarrassing  :FUNNY:

Sorry you didn’t enjoy the day and we didn’t meet….. I grabbed a few moments with a few different clubs and had good chats with the Citroen Club, the Prescott Hill Climb Bugatti owners club, the Land Rover series 2 club and the Lancia club. The rest of them I was happy to just look at as I wandered around. A double espresso was as racey as I got

S2Zetec54, The black TCS was my car on The Sporting Bears stand giving ( or rather offering for a donation) rides out in the countryside in our cars.
Sorry we didn't meet up, as I said in my first post come on down and ask for "H" as a guy from Denmark did and I took him out in my car and have just sent him out some details of my car.

Dilkris, Oh dear, sorry you didn't enjoy the show. It was crowded, but it is the biggest show of its kind in the year. If you had sought me out as I suggested, I could have taken you over to my car and given you the "Five Bob Tour" as long as I wasn't booked for a ride.
