I went and saw the car last year. No it is not a JPS. It has ablown head gasket.

Ah, too bad. More "Stars in their eyes" wishful thinking.
Or deliberate misrepresentation.

Exterior color burgundy? Looks more like Lagoon Blue to me.

Automatic transmission? With the gear change tube running alongside the gearbox!

What is the box to the left of the alternator for? The battery?

I enlarged the pic for a better look.
I think battery may be correct. Seems an odd location.
Too bad it is being left to sit with a blown head gasket!
That is almost certain to cause more damage to the engine.
TC's are too expensive to rebuild, one reason I prefer the Renault and it's removeable sleeves.

What is it about Fakebook ads? This one says the exterior color is burgundy and it has an automatic transmission.

Facebook ads for cars default to automatic transmission, so unless the lister takes the trouble to specify manual transmission then it gets listed as automatic.  It happens so often that I simply don't believe the transmission type without seeing a photo of the shift lever.

I have no explanation for why the color is listed as burgundy.

Yeah, I kinda figured the automatic transmission was the default but, like you said, why the color? On the other Europa on Fakebook, the color is listed as yellow when the car is white!

I find that most FB listers are incredibly lazy, a byproduct of posting from a phone?
I would like to see the white car.
There is a slim chance I might have the funds to buy it, but that would kill my effort to buy machine tools.
In my next life I want to be RICH!
Of course only electric will be legal by then, if we are even allowed personal transport.

Hi Everyone, I have two Europa's down in New Zealand. I imported a FED one back in 2022.
Nice to join the chat.
I am looking for a 365 box or parts if an entire box is not around. I gave my box in for a rebuild and they " lost" the 5th gear set !!.
Anyone got any leads? Cheers
Lance

Probably best to post a WTB ad in a new thread.
I do not know what interchanges between transmissions, but I do have this. https://www.lotuseuropa.org/LotusForum/index.php?topic=6647.0
I am sure someone here will know if it might be useful to you.

:Welcome: Lance!!!

I think finding a 365 box will be really difficult - but maybe not impossible. Finding a 5th gear set will almost certainly be impossible. Hewland made them and won't make any more unless there is a run of something like 150 of them. There are other options like the 395, NG3 (and others in the NG series). NG3s came from turbo Fuegos, Renault 18s, 20s, and 30s are getting more difficult to find but then in the states, there is very little history of Renault cars here so it might be easier in your part of the world. The Fuego was in production as late as '92 in South Africa.

Good luck! Post some pictures of your car and tell us your plans for her!

If NG1 5th would work I am not too greedy.
This really should have it's own thread.

Alas, NG parts won't fit in a 365.  Yup, needs its own thread.
