Seat question
« on: Friday,August 02, 2024, 06:25:52 AM »
My S2 was set up more for the track rather than the road which is what I prefer. So I removed the seats today and took the attached photo for comparison with some seat frames that came with the car. Given that I'd like to turn the car back to stock as much as possible which of the seats, if any, is correct? I'm tending towards the frames as they look similar to the covered ones available at Europa Engineering. So looks like I'll have to get covers and seat runners and potentially drill new holes to fit everything. Any other pointers would be welcome. Thanks.

If you don't have the foam, it will be a lot of work. I recovered mine using the Europa Engineering kit. I covered in inner part with suede/alcantara for less slip. I also thinned the overly fat head rest so my helmet would work. It is a lot of work to do the arms. Contact cement, some heat gun, some rivets. I had to fix some of my foam  and recover the outer edge with new foam.

A few years ago I had a post on Intatrim seats. They are in the UK and look nice.

A few of my seats with Europa Engineering vinyl. The vinyl did not match the original.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like the installed seats are the EMPI 62-2881-0 Low-Back Roadster Style (https://www.speedwaymotors.com/EMPI-62-2881-0-Low-Back-Roadster-Style-Seat-W-Polished-Vent-Grommets,294376.html) . I need to talk with Europa Engineering to find out what comes with the seat covers i.e. does it include the foam.

Hi

I have a set of the Europa Engineering seat covers and they do not come with seat foams. If they are available I would be very interested as my original foams are in poor condition.

I had assumed that I would be making my own.

All the best

That's what I ordered. It does not come with foam.

Clifton,
You did all the dimple die holes in your seats?

Yea, I bought a cheap hydraulic punch and a few dimple dies. I wrote down all the weight I took off from last summers diet.  It totaled 30 lbs when finished. Driver seat was 20 lbs 8 oz before, 14 lbs 10 oz after. Gearbox swap and hollow Front ARB next.

Nice weight savings!

Martin, I have posted these dimensions on my build but haven't yet gotten to draw them up properly.
these were taken from my S2

Thanks Dakazman, I'll need to study these in detail, but they look really useful.
