Front bearings for 74 TCS
« on: Thursday,July 04, 2024, 09:40:35 AM »
Hi All - I am nearly done with the body-off resto of the chassis and suspension, but ran into a snag. The front wheel bearings on my 74 TCS are clearly not A2 and A4 as stated in all manuals. I presume that I missed somewhere that they changed the front hub. Does anyone know what bearings should be used? That's my last bit before starting to get the body back on the car. Thanks!

Here are two cross reference lists that might be useful:

http://lotus-europa.com/manuals/lotuswest/74MC083.html

https://www.gglotus.org/ggpart/europacr.htm

Those links come from http://lotus-europa.com/manuals/ which every Europa owner should have bookmarked. Besides searchable shop and parts manuals and color wiring diagrams, there are lots of articles that contain all sorts of useful information as well as interesting mods.

There are also upgrades to the front uprights. So make sure what you have is stock.

Not unusual to fit GT6 uprights and spindles.  They take larger bearings.

Thank you guys - these are the correct bearings:
All   Front Wheel Bearings - Outer       Timken 03062 Cone; Timken 03162 Cup
All   Front Wheel Bearings - Inner       Timken 07100S Cone; Timken 07210X Cup

Unfortunately, many catalogs suggest A2/A4 and that's a no-go. Lesson learned. I really appreciate the support!
