352 gearbox overhaul

Advice from the gearbox experts sought.

I managed to find an inexpensive 352 on Ebay which I purchased for spares.
However, when I split the case open and checked it over, everything looks to be in
excellent condition so I'm going to keep it as a spare.

Questions.

The differential ring nuts have a felt seal, looking at the manual the oils seals can be exchanged, I'm presuming the felt seal
is re-used?

Would people recommend exchanging the differential bearings? The existing don't look particularly worn.
However, the track ring in the casings came loose while they were being vapour blasted so I can't be certain they would go back
into the same side that they came out of.

The “felt” is a dust seal keeping dust and grime away from the “rubber” inner lip that is actually trying to keep the transaxle’s oil inside.  Most replacement seals are double-lip “rubber” seals and they work just fine as well.

With used tapered roller bearings, the “cone” and “cup” have worn together and must be either kept together or replaced.  If you aren’t sure, then replace them.

Just one caution with an unknown gearbox.
Not all 352's have the same diff ratio so checking that is probably a good idea. The ID of gearbox is noted on a circular metal tag on one of the bolts on the rear cover.

Thanks, I already checked, the suffix is Type 352 - 11

This corresponds with the workshop manual, 9 x 32 - CW & P and 1.03 - 4th gear ratio.
