Renault tranny snap rings
« on: Wednesday,September 13, 2023, 01:49:58 PM »
I'm going into my tranny (again) and I want to be prepared for the possibility that I break one (or more!) of the snap rings which I am led to believe are at least rare if not NLA. If you have any that you don't mind selling or if you know of a good alternative, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.

The ones I need are 30mm and 32mm ID and they are 1.9mm thick. See the attached picture.

It's more difficult shopping for things like this because they're not really a 'retail' item but have you tried a local bearing supply? If they don't have it, they will likely put you on the right track.

Or an engineering supply house like these guys?:

Thanks guys!

I did inquire at 123bearing.com about their snap rings but theirs were 1.5mm thick and a guy I talked to who had experience in building these Renault boxes felt that the difference in thickness (1.5mm vs 1.9mm) might be significant. At some of the places I’ve looked recently, the thickness isn’t even given!
