Europa Salvage Yard
« on: Saturday,September 02, 2023, 08:24:01 AM »
Is anyone aware of a Europa (or Lotus) salvage yard?  Is there an enthusiast out there with a few Europas sitting around their property that pieces them out?  Seems like every automobile mark has a fanatic who has filled their yard with non running carcasses of their favorite cars.  Through the years I have met a Riviera, a Corvair and a Thunderbird nut with neighbors that hate him because of his precious collection.

I have 6 europas. One of my neighbors hate me. Does that check all your boxes?  :FUNNY:

Sports car world in Dallas has a hoard of europa parts as well. They are as close as we get in the states to a Lotus salvage yard.

Chuck, I'm unable to send a PM.  Here is what I'm searching for at the moment.  It is a Shoulder Harness Mounting Hook.  I would like to find one of the thicker, shorter ones.

You might not realize it, but those are basically shackles, used for all sorts of rigging applications, on boats and otherwise.  The shape of what you show is specifically a bow shackle.  Stamped sheet steel ones are mostly made in only small sizes, and are more likely "D" shackles..  Larger ones, likely what you need, are usually forged, cast, or made of formed wire.
I think you'll find something to work.  There are at least hundreds of manufacturers, and probably tens of thousands of suppliers.
