WTB Renault TS/Cross-Flow cam core.
« on: Wednesday,August 02, 2023, 10:18:04 PM »
It seems the cam I had ground is too much for the street at almost 12mm lift.
So I need to try again but have no core to work with.
Lobes are not particularly important but excellent journals are.
Please contact with pic and price for what you have.

A used Gordini 17 or billet cam in excellent condition is also of interest.

In the old days, the emphasis was on overlap (good for high revs, crap fro idle and low speed work) and valves did not open particularly wide (less valve train acceleration required).  After literally billions of dollars of research, engines now put out even more hp/litre, run cleaner and run longer.  Now cams are ground for more lift (more power throughout the range) and less overlap (cleaner combustion).  All that to say, don't throw out the baby with the bath water.  If the overlap is not too extreme, extra lift may well be a big plus.

Salve Sacco stated it is a bit extreme for the street.
Supposedly I could send it back to be tamed a bit but it has now been a long delay and they did not address the heel rubbing issue.
So I have lost confidence in the grinder.
They were supposed to confirm the profile with me before completing the work, they did not.
