Newbie saying hello ... and with a question
« on: Tuesday,July 04, 2023, 06:59:20 AM »
Hi folks, I'm brand new to the forum.  I had a JPS in the mid-'70s, and I currently have a '72 Elan +2 (I'd include a photo, but I suspect this forum is a purist bunch and such photos might be frowned upon :-)).  I'm starting to feel the Europa itch again, which is a little scary.  Does anyone, by chance, know the whereabouts of car #3483R?  I'm asking for a friend -- wink, wink.

Thanks.

It's shown on the registry:  http://www.lotus-europa.com/regspcl.html

But, the entry for the car hasn't been updated in quite some time.

A google search pulled up this....

https://bringatrailer.com/2017/07/10/two-twin-cams-1973-lotus-europa-john-player-special-projects/

but no idea if it sold from there, it could well be sitting in a barn somewhere.

+2's are fine, several of us on here have more than one Lotus. That's the trouble, they are easy to buy but selling takes a whole lot more will power !

 :Welcome: SM JPS157!!!

I hope you find your old baby! Maybe during your search, you’ll find a worthy new baby!

For sure, some of us are more on the purist side than others but we all like pictures of Loti!

Welcome to the forum. The Europa is my favourite (affordable) Lotus, but I love them all, and never tire of looking at photos of any of them.

Good luck in your search for your old JPS.

Cheers  :beerchug:

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the leads.  I had found the registry but also saw that the last entry there was 2007.  I’ve gotten nowhere trying to find the Jerry Paulson, who made the entry.

I’ll see if I can get anywhere with the Craigslist link from BaT.

I’m trying to attach a couple of photos of my +2, but it's not working well.  Maybe I need a certain number of posts in order do that?  I'll work on it.

Thanks again for the help.

If you're having trouble with the size of your pictures, there are a couple of ways to solve that:

and

If you are using Apple products, there is a built in snipping tool:

Thanks, BDA.  I know how to resize so I'm under the size limit.  However, even my low-res photo won't attach.  I do seem to remember from another forum that uses the same platform that users needed to have some number of posts before they could attach photos.  I've looked but can't find that restriction here, so that may just be my faulty memory.

I'm not aware of any requirement for any number of posts to attach a picture. If there is, it is new.

What sort of error message are you getting?

You might try sending LotusJoe a PM. He's the administrator of this forum. He should be able to help you.

Not getting an error message; the photo just won't attach.

I'll try LotusJoe.  Thanks.

Ok, figured it out.  Photos don't show up in the Preview.

Anyway, that photo is how the car looked when I bought it; the one I'm attaching now is current.  Mine is the blue one sitting next to a friend's +2.

Yes, for some reason any attachments only show up in the final post. It's probably a "feature" of the forum software  ;)

Anyway that's a really nice car, I reckon blue & silver sets off the lines of the +2 very well.
