Two Europas for sale on Ebay
« on: Monday,January 20, 2014, 05:38:26 PM »
A guy is selling two Europas on Ebay. One of them is a Bahama Yellow '70 S2, which is the same colour/year as mine:

(No affiliation.)

He has a nice video of the car in action, presumably taken with a GoPro.

I must say, viewing this auction has inspired me to press on with restoring mine, not that I needed much encouragement. This weekend I have been laying fibreglass on some damaged pieces of bodywork, and in the pedal cluster area (where the existing glass had split). I also removed the brake master cylinder for inspection: this ended up being quite a game as one of the nuts on box housing the brake pedal and master cylinder rods was frozen - in the end I had to grind it off. I also bought a new battery - a small U1 size "Lawn and Garden" type, good for 340 cold cranking amps. I've no idea if it will be beefy enough, but it's nice and small and a cheap experiment. I also drained and refilled the transmission oil - the stuff that came out looked and smelled awful. I used 80W gear oil. I removed the sway bar at the front, and ordered new rubber bushings for it - the old ones were crumbly and useless. I have an order in with Ray for new gas filler tube, new heim joint for the transmission, new brake hoses (front and rear) and new shoes and pads. I'm not looking forward to fitting the hoses on the rear suspension arms, as access looks very tight.

This guy comes up with more Lotus cars than anyone I seen, well, I do know one guy but I can't disclose his location.
The seller just sold a lovely Elan Plus 2 that went to Canada.
