There were several names considered, Elfin and Concorde were two before they settled on Europa.  The actual name used depended on local copyright provisions.  In some countries, Europa was already in use or reserved by other companies.  They they used Europe.

Frankly, I'm glad they settled on Europa.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

I figure this was brought back to the States by a GI stationed in Europe.

VW owned name rights in Germany for Europa. Cars sold in that market had to go by "Europe" instead. Elsewhere including Europe outside of Germany, Europa name wasn't a problem.
