I would also go up a size (i.e. 14mm). IIRC, the holes for my old 3/8” studs were the same as needed for my 14mm studs but they might have needed to be opened up a little. I found this that might help: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/what-size-knurl.1145929/

Haven't measured them myself but according to this Kiwi site, the knurl is 13mm and the long Spitfire studs are 48mm compared to the stock 35mm.

Studs from a Freelander seem to be a common upgrade for longer and larger diameter studs but apparently some versions have a longer unthreaded section.

I went the Freelander stud route and am very satisfied.  I discussed it here:.

.
My post says I measured .520 inches.

Is there a source for the Freelander studs on this side of the pond? (USA)

I think so, but I'm out of town, and my records aren't as well organized as intended, so I'm not sure I can help you.  99% sure I bought them from a US source though.

and come up with something….

There are a few other suppliers on eBay. If those fail, NAPA will likely have what you need, especially if they don’t need to be called a Freelander part. Lastly, Amazon is a a possibility also.

I don’t think there’s anything magical about Freelander studs. Any 1/2”, 12mm, 14mm that is too long can be trimmed to length.

True, mine weren't specifically for the Freelander, they were generic parts fitted to several MG Rover cars. The part number I used was NAM8116 and I would expect most British car suppliers over there will have them. I used MGF wheel nuts with them because I liked the 2-part assembly with a loose cone that fitted into the wheel, but they are intended only for the MGF wheel, they won't fit on Cosmic alloys for example.

A point to consider is these studs have an unthreaded section so if you're on steel wheels they aren't going to work.

No luck at NAPA...not for the length I want. Will probably order from Rimmer Bros as suggested by EuropaTC.

Sometimes makes you wish you lived over there, doesn't it? Imagine having access to the experts and the parts we need over here without having to ship things around the continental US....
