The depth and width of the engine bay ?
« on: Saturday,December 21, 2013, 01:10:46 PM »
My car remains in the shop.  i want to order gold insulation foil to line the engine bay, however i do not know how many feet i need,  anyone with this handy?

width and length of the side walls
Width and length of the bulk head
width and length of the engine cover

https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=1838

I have found a few other options, however it all gets very expensive.

Thank you

$31 for 2 sq.ft!  And you want to do the whole engine bay!

We use this product quite a bit on the cars we do:

It's heavier than the gold-film but it deadens sound as well.  I still wouldn't do the whole engine bay just the firewall.

That stuff looks interesting.

31$ is expensive, but other options are even more expensive.

I suspect maybe 4 feet each side, and 2 more more 4 foot sections for bulkhead. 500$,  its a lot of bling and some functionality.

interesting thought, albeit expensive.

the gold looks good in this rotary Europa, so i'm sure would look good in yours.
when (if, lol) I get to this point. I've got some 1/16" sheet rubber & 1'8" closed cell foam i was going to use for sound/heat insulation.
had thought about covering the insulation/bulkhead with some polished stainless steel, and doing the same with the wheel wells.

I have always like the look of the F1's gold engine bay.  my research found a number of solutions, may of the affordable ones were silver or aluminum.  I was going to move forward with a silver one - at 20% the cost of the gold, however it required rivets to install, that was off putting.

A member on the britishspeed site linked me to the stuff i posted about in this thread.  at 31$ a foot it is less the half the price of the AL stuff i was getting. and as an added value i am also getting the gold color - and it is easily installed with the adhesive backing.
