It was on one of the Lotus Europa Facebook groups. I think they were going to try again on 27th August.

The producers contacted me back a few weeks ago, and I let the post go through on the Lotus Europa FB group I manage.  I think they got a couple of folks from that group to help out...not sure, but didn't follow up to make sure.

On the Europa Facebook site I joined yesterday.

Snap !!!

Wheeler Dealer

Wheeler Dealers is looking to find a buyer for this restored Lotus Europa S2 due to our current buyer falling through. This car has undergone a complete, engine, gearbox and suspension rebuild, plus extensive body work and paint.  We would love to film a sale on Monday or Tuesday next week, so with that in mind, we have dropped the price to £22.5k.  If you would like the opportunity to own this piece of motoring history then please contact matt.lehec@betty.co.uk 🇬🇧👍🚗

What I don't understand is why they didn't add some finishing touches to make it look so much better. Obviously there's lots of mechanical work, respray, chassis and plenty of cash or time spent on the car but then they leave the cabin which with the best will in the world you can only describe as scruffy.

I can see it's not a lot of cash to make the interior look presentable, I just don't understand why you'd go so far and then stop. Perhaps they realised they'd price the car out of the S2 market ?

:I-agree:I wonder what he paid for it. Surely with that amount of work, it was more a contended for Fuzz and Tim on Car SOS.

£16,500 apparently.

I have just received an email from Ellie too, saying the same.

A Monday is a very strange day to expect people to drive long distances, and back, to be part of the program.

Not very well planned it seems, and renovating an S2 was always going to be risky.

Hello Brian,

the 'to MOT or not to MOT' of an MOT exempt classic vehicle is a difficult one.
For £50 or £60 it's a fairly thorough check of a car's integrity (often checking areas where many owners won't get to see without a car lift or a pit)
I understand that an MOT is merely a 'snapshot' of a vehicle's condition and only valid on that particular day but I think it's worth having.
There was concern that insurance companies may not offer full cover in the event of a loss, if the vehicle was not MOT'd but I don't think that ever happened?

Mark

Probably because Mike Brewer is a car dealer and from his viewpoint an independent MoT is a sort of check that it's roadworthy.  It wouldn't bother me either way, the MoT is just a single day test and the car might fall apart a week later but some folks place an awful lot of faith in the system.

And you may guess that I don't MoT my cars either.  I think it's a bit silly when it could be tested one week and then the next week I rip it apart to try a new set of rear brakes, tinker with the geometry, etc. But there are plenty out there who think an MoT pass is a licence to drive for 12 months without looking at the car again.

I went along, another 11 Europas turned up.  Most Europas in the UK that I've seen!  quite a long day. There is an embargo on posting pics on social media stuff so will post nearer the time of the program. A few bits of info. they bought it for around 8k I think and sold it for 22.5k. Filming wise they have 13 days to do the refurb, so quite tight. The car sounded nice and was properly set up. cosmetically it was rough in places.  Certainly an interesting day and an inside to how they do it.  Interesting MB doesn't get on with Discovery and has various contractual issues with them. He put up with it though at the moment.

I went along, another 11 Europas turned up.

Were they mostly S2s, or were there many TCs?

Sounds like an interesting day. 12 Europas in one place is impressive for any event.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

Fun show! As a “reality show” it wasn’t entirely real and I think it was the “youtubizing” that messed up some of the camera angles but all in all, a fun show! Thanks for the link. I was looking forward to seeing it!
