365 transaxle ID question
« on: Friday,July 08, 2022, 08:44:08 PM »
Lotus used either the 365-04 or the 365-07 transaxles for their 5-spd boxes.  I have a Lotus 5 speed but its ID tag is long gone.  Does anyone know how to tell the difference between the two?

Thanks to Mr Rude: casting no. 7700512218 is the 04, and casting no. 7700598122 is the 07 version.  I have a 365-04.

Any idea what the differences are between the two?
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

Mostly minor differences in the gears and synchro hub's tooth count and synchro face angle.  Each takes their own matching synchros.

Also, 365 -04s have pinion depth shims while 365-07s don't.  Weirdly my -04 doesn't either.  I'll be setting it up from scratch so it doesn't matter.
