Upholstery came in...
« on: Thursday,June 02, 2022, 08:07:23 AM »
Upholstery replacement covers came in from lotus-supplies!  Except…they sent 4 (!) headrest covers and no kneerolls.  lol.  guess that is meant for the 4-door Europa saloon.  Sent an email off…offered to send 2 back in trade for the kneeroll covers.

With the new pattern for the facings…had a spare basketweave arm rest left over from an S2 (the original in the car was the ambla pattern); swapped that in, since the new upholstery is basketweave (which I prefer).

Quality seems nice; and the price is most agreeable, even figuring in shipping.

Recovered one of the bottom pads last night “just to see”…pretty pleased how it turned out.  I think it will dress up the interior just a bit, no?

The basket weave would probably be a little cooler too! It's nice that it pretty much matches your arm rest.

It didn't initially.  I had a spare armrest in decent condition (I had re-dyed it in satin black using the SEM product process) in basketweave in my cache, so swapped out the original ambla that was in the car for the spare...now it matches!  To be honest, I think I have some door card armrest inserts in the same pattern down in PA to complete the interior (the door card upholstery is in good condition, strangely enough).  On the list is removing the windscreen and replacing the 'crash pad' with an upholstered version (but that is far down the road...).

Only about half way through the punch list...but don't have to worry that a local LEO will see the lack of sticker as a reason to investigate further (all things being equal...).  When I had a turboesprit...was careful to be reasonable on exercising the capabilities...but didn't stop from being asked to pull over...mostly by fellow gear-head officers who just wanted 'to see' an exotic.  Never received a citation...and made a few friends in the local constabulary...;)
