removing/replacing oil pump
« on: Sunday,November 17, 2013, 10:57:31 AM »
So I had a shop who did my post purchase inspection change the oil when they looked it over two months ago. I recently noticed an intermittent drop of oil coming off the filter.

Sooo, I figure I'm going to need to change it myself. I may be lucky and the seal on the filter just didn't seal right, or when I get under the car I may find the oil pump leaking. Bought a gasket just in case of the latter.

So, if I get under there and decide to pull the pump, what should I be leery of, look out for, be concerned with, hidden things I need to know about, etc. Looks fairly straightforward, but little ever is on these cars.

Thanks!
Todd

Nothing to be really wary of, but to ease initial priming you might fill the pump with thin grease or similar before replacing it, and fill the filter before screwing it on.
You may get oily hands!
