Restart of topic 71 1084R
« on: Thursday,March 24, 2022, 07:44:07 AM »
Hi all,

After a long hiatus, thanks to covid we could not come to Fl for more than a year, finaly got to work on my project.
Put everything together and now have a roller.
Today I will fit the body on the chassis and will go on from there.
I intend to ship the car to the Netherlands in 2 weeks, as we have sold our house here.
Made several modifications as can be seen in the pics.

She looks really nice Bert! I’m concerned that you may not have enough adjustment for rear toe.
Good luck with your move to the Netherlands!

Wow Bert, You are Flying along.  :trophy:
When I was the last , a month ago you didn't even have the body painted or engine in.

All the best to you with your move.
 Don't be a stranger.

For the rear suspension I am waiting for the lowerlink bushes  so it looks a little strange.
When the bushes are in, I can adjust them to the proper rear toe (I hope)

That is called ; grabber blue used by Ford.
The paintjob I did is a disaster, but I do not have time to do it all over again.
So when it is in the Netherlands I will  see what to do. Maybe just drive it first.
Today I put in the rear window, bolted the body to the chassis, put in the radiator and some other things.
Also the new windshield came yesterday, but I will put that in as last.

Hey Bert, isn't that the color of your sabb sonnet?
After looking at your pictures I see you ran the water temp sender to the aft side of the head, near water pump. I installed mine at the front of engine on the head, is that a better pick up area?

Yes it is the same color of the saab sonett, still had the paint.
About the sender, I do not know, it was already there.
Why would you think it would be better else where?

My mistake, actually I caught a mistake I made . I’m just noticing differences in the heads. Mine has two ports and it seems to cycle the water into the pump from the diagram below.
You can see the sender you have it correct.

You want the temp sender to be as close to the coolant outlet as possible.  That's where the temps will be the highest.

The coolant is circulating through the carb base to aid in fuel vaporization for emissions purposes (and eliminate icing).  Pretty standard to disconnect and plug.

I don’t have that luxury, unless they have different size temp sensors. Mine is located near cylinder 4
Exact opposite of bert’s . I double checked today.
