Well to set the scene for non UK residents, the M25 motorway is about 120 miles long and goes completely around the Greater London built up area, connecting the motorways which go out like bicycle spokes to other parts of the country. The M11 runs NNE from the M25 to Norfolk where the Lotus factory is located about a 90 minute drive from the M25.
At 13.10 today, the traffic on the M25 slowed considerably going anti-clockwise between junction 25 and 26, with the 4 lanes doing about 10-30 mph for about 10 minutes to where the inside lane was blocked with a rolled car, ambulance and lots of blue lights.
I was driving my Toyota Land Cruiser in lane 2, watching the traffic to see which lane to take, and in the outside lane was a sleek sports car with ticker-tape paint scheme. That looks familiar. Same colour scheme as the Harry's garage car. No badges on the wheels, no badge on the front, no letters on the back but EMIRA spelled out in ticker tape down the left side. The car was LHD, registration AU21FCL and driven by a mid 20's male.
If I hadn't seen what an Emira looked like, I would have thought it was a McLaren worth about £200k.
I tried to get in the outside lane, and by the time I did, the Emira was 6 cars ahead.
I tried to catch up before the turn off up the M11, and I thought he too might go up that motorway back to the factory. This was obviously a demo car.
By the time I turned up the M11, the cars were far apart, I got up to 90 mph (limit 70mph) hoping to catch up with the Emira.
After about 5 minutes I spotted the low profile of a sleek expensive sports car in the middle of 3 lanes, got my camera out and took 3 photos, thinking this was the Emira I saw on the M25.
The photos show a dark blue McLaren !!!
So an Emira and McLaren seen within 10 minutes, and the Emira mistaken for a McLaren.
The first time I have seen one in real life.
