timing chain guide shoes

how do i adjust the guide shoes it says use gauge mot.420 do i just put them close as possible without chain touching  i had no problem with tensioner but guide shoes i really need advice

Found this -
"The setting up of the guides is done using factory tool Mot.420. As I don't have this special tool what I have done in the past is either use piece of flat steel 0.8mm (0.032" in your money) thick or a feeler gauge."
