It does get busy in there.  To mine I have also added: pressure and return lines for AC, two lines for a front mounted oil cooler and two cables for a cable shifter.

Question: How much slop should there be, up & down, on the reaction lever pivot? Mine seems to have more than 1/8". Do you think that could cause any problem? I can't think of any but it doesn't seem right.

There's supposed to be a washer/spacer under the pivot but I can't remember how much running clearance that provides . . or how much it's supposed to provide.

Can't see 1/8" up/down slop causing much issue but I've seen reports that the cable end rubs on the fibreglass underneath. I'd just put a washer/spacer in and allow a little clearance.

54/1173 rubs. I put a rub barrier on the coolant tubes.

If I recall, the reaction lever is a Ford part (Cortina?) and as far as I know, that downward kink is stock.
The kink is to permit some reasonable alignment of the forward cable end with the horseshoe in the tunnel. Note the forward cable end is a slot shape to fit the reaction lever and has very limited ability to 'wiggle' about and conform to a variation in pull angles.
Viewed in side elevation, the cable traces a diagonal path but the reaction lever only moves horizontally. Make sense?

Yes, noted your cable end rubbing on the fibreglass but frankly, I wouldn't worry much. It's annoying but even if it wears through the fibreglass, I can't see much potential for a problem.
