Weber car air-boxes?

Looking at several threads and many pictures I note concern that the air filters may get wet on Weber equipped cars.
Seems a valid concern.
Looking for an improvement I began to wonder if the air-box from a Alfa Romeo Webers might fit?
Weber DCOE's are all alike so only the manifold spacing is a question.
I think I will be able to answer this to some degree after the weekend.
I have an Alfa Spider with Webers and a "Stabilizing plate" that connects them.
If that will fit the TS/Webers then it's a very good chance the Alfa air-box may also be adapted with some modification to the top half.
Of course this occurs to me only now, after I sold two Alfa air-boxes very cheaply a couple of years ago.

That might be a safe way to go, if it is indeed a problem. A good addition to that is for cooler air induction. There’s a thread elsewhere here about this but the idea is that you connect a hose to the air box that runs down the passenger gas tank (if there is one or where it might be). The air filter would be be at the end of the hose near the bottom of the body.

The big problem is that the air is hot in the engine compartment due to poor air circulation (mostly air recirculation).  Some of us have ducted in cool air from underneath.  On an S1 you need to open up a duct in the "floor." Perhaps not on the S2.

Found these, need to convert to inches and make measurements.
Seems a lot of the good stuff is coming out of AU lately.
Price is a bit dear, but Alfa parts are also not cheap anymore. $AU are a bit smaller than $US. so price is not as bad as it looks.
