Soaked my heater core in a vinegar/salt solution for a couple of days and then flushed it both direction with a Harbor Freight hand operated transfer pump, then with a water/baking soda solution to neutralize it, then clean water. Quite a bit of dissolved scale can out (vinegar in the bucket was clear … ) and it passed a pressure test  :) And my programmable boost proportional water/methanol system showed up  8)

I keep eyeing that same Snow kit. I follow a couple of WMI groups on FB and it seems to be the best for the money. Looking forward to seeing how it works for you.

Nothing real exciting … Ospho’d the rust on heater box, removed under dash trim from mounting backing, painted dash brackets, unstuck rusted driver’s heater slide control.

Epoxied some minor rust spots in heater box and painted it, ready for reassembly. Worked on new lower dash trim. Removed speedo and tach with binnacle, darned “ignition” light socket was rusted in its plastic holder and a bugger to get out with out break anything. Binnacle is flimsy junk like the center console  ??? The back of gauges are rusty of course  :-\ but I think the fronts will clean up decently.

On the off chance you're not aware, there are sturdier reproductions of the binnacle and console cover in ABS rather than nylon.

For whatever reason, I had a lot of trouble with my ammeter. When I finally swapped it with a voltmeter, I found the ammeter was severely corroded. I sent all my gauges to be checked by Nisonger while I was building my car and the best I can tell, it was in bad shape less than 15 years later. I think the voltage accelerated its demise. I would put extra attention to corrosion prevention for all your gauges but especially your ammeter.

Moving along nicely turbo.
Yes, I agree, the binnacle is,flimsy . I just made my own using the original as a mold, wrapped in plastic and covered is fiberglass, then painted. I should have made more.

Unlike my last offer to you of the eyeball vents I thought I had, just looked and I have a very nice abs binnacle and abs dash. Both yours for the shipping. Also have the glove box, but it would need work, very thin  with a crack, but repairable.

I got the fiddly 6 sides of the heater box together with new foam. This may have been amusing when new but quite aggravating with 50 year old rusted, distorted sheet metal! Worked some more on lower dash trim and started cleaning up the speedo and tach.

  Details , details, details .
it all takes time but better than doing it again later. Keep moving forward.
I’d ask how much longer till a road test but that took me over a year to test .

Very cool! I'm going to check out our Dollar store to see if they have one too!

I've heard of a lot of people whose love of Europas started when they were a kid and became enamored with the Hot Wheels Europa!

Finished lower dash “trim” and thought I would put a couple of gauges in it ….I wish the water/methanol injection controller and wideband AFR gauge had chrome bezels ….got a package in the mail today with a vacuum formed binnacle, glove box insert and dash “pad”  ….  (Thanks Kram!)  8) they need trimmed etc.

Still cleaning up dash stuff … tried painting the gauge housings silver but it only accentuated the rust pitting so I went with black.
