Nice slightly modified 1970 S2 on BaT. It will be interesting to see what it brings.

Interesting driving style in the video.
One hand on the wheel while the other hand has a death grip the gearstick.

I noticed that too. Get you two hands on the steering wheel.

I'll bet the gearshift rattles otherwise.

Ha . . that's what I reckon, too.

Many Europa owners that will recognise what's happening.
We know the gear change might be ponderous on an already ponderously changing gearbox.

This seems like the sort of car I would buy. Not having driven one before but watching the YouTube video link on my mobile, the engine does not sound nice. I will try a hear a few more from YouTube but how would you guys describe the engines, renault and lotus in how sweet do they run when revved up to the limit and how do they sound.

How many 1565 cc wedge headed engines were put into Europas?

Noise is subjective.  My favourite engine sound, bar none, is the Aston Martin 6 cylinder.  A short stroke engine so it revs cleanly and note reverberates up and down your spine.  &$% amazing.

I like the Renault engine as well.  It's alloy so it's harsher than a cast block.  Chain thrash gets through.  It's also 12" from your ear so the intake noise is prominent as well.  The noise on the video sounds about right to me.

You'll like this then. Factory works Aston DB4GT. Skip ahead to the test drive AFTER the tune-up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffH6hFfqyDM

Nice but no where near the sensation when you are right there.

No doubt. I'll just pop down to the garage and fire up the DB4. Oh, wait...

My favourite engine sound is that of my fiat which I should hear again soon following a 4 year rebuild. Not that I expect the europa to sound this good but at least for it to be a pleasant sound.
Not mine but same model  https://youtu.be/xC10NHPql6Q

Nice, and nice to see a video where they are actually driving hard.  FIAT has a raft of soulful sounding engines.

I'd like to pop down to my garage and find a DB as well, no such luck.  But I have been lucky to work on them.  Ferrari's allure disappears quickly when you work on them -- or maybe it's the owners who are so #$% annoying (not all of them, I know, but...).  Not with Astons.  Joy to work on, joy to drive.  And that sound!  It's like it causes a sympathetic vibration deep inside.  Gives me the shivers just thinking about it.

Another vehicle that does the same, and I do own, is my '66 Ducati 250 single.  It's heavily modified and it's bark is amazing.
