Lotus Cortina Film Short from the Ford Archives
« on: Thursday,June 11, 2020, 02:06:16 AM »
Great little short featuring Lotus and the Lotus/Ford Cortinas from the 1964 Sebring Race.  Plenty of quality footage of Jim Clark, Dan Gurney, and Mr. ACBC  and great close ups of the Twin Cam Motor.  I found this really enjoyable. Sebring is less than two hours from where I live.

Nice video! Didn't Clark fret about broken headlights during a pit stop? Did they fix it that quickly? Too bad Clark didn't win his class.

Watching Jim Clark drive really makes me want a Lotus Cortina.  And that engine bay sure looks sweet.

I was at the 1970 12 hours of Sebring.  Mario Andretti won in a Ferrari 512m.  I can still hear the sound of that amazing 12 cylinder engine.  I as 14 at the time and my brother and I and his friend drove there in my parents 1965 Chevy station wagon with a straight six and 3 on the tree.  After the race, they let you drive the circuit.  The brakes lasted two corners. Those were the days.
The other thing I remember is that the track is 5.2 miles and there was a 6 foot deep ditch all the way around the track.  After the race, that ditch was overflowing with beer cans.  What a sight.

That is a race I will never forget.
