S1 Starter replacement
« on: Wednesday,June 26, 2013, 12:56:09 PM »
I am a new S1 owner and just wanted to see if anyone could tell me a straight forward way to get to and remove the starter.  Car has been sitting for a few years and the starter spins freely with the ignition but will not engage the flywheel.  Just looking it appears as though the carburetor and exhaust manifold will need to come off.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 :Welcome:

According to the Lotus Repair Manual it appears to be pretty straight forward. Here is the reference to the section of the repair manual and also a picture of that page.
