It's always the simple things...
Working on cars has always had it's pitfalls, sometimes we over think what's wrong and go down the rabbit hole. I mention this after hearing from Vic today, seems he's been chasing an elusive issue with an above normal water temp reading. There was no pattern to the erratic gauge operation, a complete coolant system check and wiring revealed little at fault.
The issue remained as to why the gauge was always reading higher than normal.
So, after checking all the basics, it turned out to be "Teflon"...you know, the Gotti factor.
That wonderful plumbers invention on the threads of the sender was preventing the true resistance reading.
Lesson learned...the "Kiss" factor reared it's head once again.
