Florida members?
« on: Thursday,January 30, 2020, 07:32:11 AM »
We're moving south to FL, a bit north of Spring Hill. Was wondering if there are any members local to the area?

Got plenty of practice here in NC. Over the years, dispatched 8 Copperheads near our house. One was 42 inches long, and on the step at the front door.  I don't like snakes.

Tom,
Down here, we say ”watch out for the snow birds”  Lol.

Andy,
I am moving to Orlando in a few months from Fort Lauderdale.  I would enjoy getting together.  I have attended the Tampa Bay Austin Healy club car show ”Annual All British Field Meet & Autojumble” which is in downtown Safety Harbor in Tampa.  That is a nice show to go to.

There are a few Lotus owners in the state.  The Lotus Limited roster has the names, addresses and locations of all its members, so a good reference.

Andy, were glad to have you!

Wesley , literarymadness, found quite a bit of Europa owners here. Hopefully I will have mine on the road soon. So road trips will be mandatory.
Snakes 🐍 are nothing, wait till you have a gator hissing at you.  :FUNNY:
Yes it happened to me me working at mco airport.

The alligators aren't anywhere near as scary as the crocodiles. Yes Florida actually has crocodiles. It is the only state in the United States that has them as indigenous. But I would rather face them than some of the tourists. LOL

Sounds like we may need some tips on alligator avoidance...

Long nature walks with the family you’ll see a few. Respect is key.

All kidding about snakes and such aside, congrats on your move Andy! We northerners will be green with envy all winter long.

Thanks Tom! We're looking forward to the change. We were down in the area a few weeks ago - and can verify - there is winter there, it was 50F. Like ice, I tell you!

Dakazman,
The pics were taken from way to close, for me anyhows. We've glimpsed a couple alligators while in FL, one in a pond, and one (about 6~ foot) appearing to wait for traffic to clear before crossing the road...  Since taking the attached photo, I try to keep a very healthy distance from wildlife. I had to step back to get the snake framed as was too close. Later, I found it was a Banded Sea Krait, one of the more venomous  snakes around. Respect. (and distance!)

My son took these photos last month at Flamingo near Florida Bay. He was about 50 ft. away. This croc has to be around 14 ft.  There are quite an impressive sight in person. But then again, I am native Miamian.

Are these the not so elusive "snow birds" we've heard so much about?

I've read about American Crocodiles, never seen any though. We've got some 'exploring' to do!! Happy, I may add.
We did travel down and met Bert a few weeks ago. Great people!!
