S2 gearshifter and other Xmas wishes
« on: Saturday,December 21, 2019, 08:42:26 AM »
Hi, joined this great forum a year ago.
I bought a 1971 europa S2 (1084 R) . It is a usable chassis, a good body , engine, tranny, new carpet, good chairs  and 3 boxes of parts.
After going through te boxes, ander after learning (with the help of this forum) I found out that I am missing quite a lot off parts.
On the other hand I also have more parts, I have 5 doors, 2 bonnets, 3 enginelids, 2 rear windows, 4 side windows and ots of suspension.
Things I am looking for are;  gearshifter, heatherbox, whiper (2 wipers)assembly, trading parts would be great, but buying is also ok.
Also missing a windshield and radiator, but I will buy those new, like all other small (bushings, rubbers etc etc etc)
Hope some of you can help me out, especialy with the gearshifter ( I do have the connectingrods) , and make me a memerable Xmas!
Cheers, happy holidays, Bert  Lauderhill FL

It sounds like you have a good selection of parts, Bert! I don't know anything about the wipers on the S2 but the TC has one that is straight and one that is bent and I understand they are no longer available so people use generic straight wipers as replacements. The wiper motor, wiper rack, wheel boxes are available from MG or Triumph patrs sources. The tubes that the wiper rack rides in can probably be made by bending some tubes and flaring the ends so they wheel boxes and motor can grab them.

Yo probably already know that those inexpensive aluminum Chinese radiators that are usually available on eBay are a good deal.

What about your shift linkage is giving you trouble?

We'd love to see pictures!  ;D

Ted Taylor mailed me, he has a complete assembly for sale, so I think that would be the way to go.
The shifting problem is, I do not have the shifterstick and the attachement to the chassis.
Before building up the car I would like it installed, as now I have free acces.
I can also try to fabricate something myself, but as I read, even a original system is  at least not perfect.
I once owned a 2004 MG TF ,they used a cablesystem, so I could try that also.
But when someone has the original lying around I would prefer that.
Uploading pics on this site is still a bridge to far me. ( and yes I read the instructions given)
Happy holidays Bert

Ted's assy. would be the way to go. I would try the usual suspects: r.d. enterprises, Dave Bean, Europa Engineering, or SJ Sportscars for the shift parts.

Yes, I am aware of the " usual suspects " but there must be a lot of parts on the shelves of nearly 1000 forum guys,
And like I mentioned I would be happy to see that my extra parts find a good home.
I own several old cars, and  know parts are sometimes hard to come by.
Buying new is sometimes the only way to go, but when obsolete parts can be put to use again, is for me always the way to go.
Regards Bert

Maybe someone who converted to a cable shift system might have the parts you need. I hope one finds you. Have you tried posting to the LotusEuropa groups.io group (https://groups.io/g/LotusEuropa/)?

Oh! And Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Is this what you need?
We may be able to work something out if so.
After Christmas, we'll be in FL
Send a message if this helps

(oops! just saw you may be in the Netherlands)

I have the whole shifter setup minus shift ball from 1093R if you find you're still in need.

Thanks, but I found the shifter already.
I only needed the shiftstick with the bowl, rest I already had.
Now I am still looking for the steel piece between the enginemount and the engine, the one with the hole in it. Clutch side
