Looking to buy a europa in the UK
« on: Monday,December 02, 2019, 01:46:17 PM »
Hello everyone. I'm a new member looking to buy my first lotus. My preference is for a more original car. I have viewed a twin cam needing some work which sold for £7,300 which in hindsight maybe I should have bought, and also a s2 needing a lot of work for £5,500 which I think is way too much considering the work needed. My budget is up to £10,000. Any leads are most appreciated.

 :Welcome

Sparkrite.  No matter what price range you enter you must drive one . I fell in love with the look myself however after driving one I realize I should have upped my buy in price. Glad you found your way here . The forum has a For sale area on the main page that members post sightings of any Europa.
Hope you find and drive your dream.

Welcome Sparkrite.

Have you formed any preference yet for which version of the Europa you want?  I quite like the bob-cars.com search engine.  Have you tried it?  Just make sure to pay attention to the date when the ad was discovered. Many of the ads are old.

 :Welcome: Sparkrite!!

4129R, a member here, has been restoring TCs for some time. I don't know what he might want for one or even if any are available but a private message to him would get you those answers.

Good luck and let us know what happens!

Thank you guys for the warm welcome.  The europa has always  been a dream car of mine  ever since I was a kid when a neighbour had a period purple one, possibly a twin cam and I used to gaze at the shape of it from my bedroom window. I have always preferred the look of the early cars but having been to view a twin cam it did not seem to look inferior, so it's probably a more preferable choice. I have never driven one but I am able to comfortably  fit inside.

Banks Europa Engineering has a pinboard which lists some Europas for sale.  They are also a Great source of parts in the UK.

I have enquired about the auction car but they could not give me much details or even send more photos. But it's not likely to be within my 10k budget anyway. The last non ebay auction twin cam sold for about £13,500 not too long ago.
