Just got a new cap, rotor, wires and plugs from RD ent but they did not have points for the S2 with Renault engine. Does anyone have them?

i got points from my local auto parts store.
standard ignition listed 'em.
didn't list a condenser, however....., i'm reusing the old one, so far.

You can get parts for r16 witch is what is in the Europa at rockauto really affordable  that’s where i get some ofmy parts i write Renault 1970 then r16
They have points or you can get conversions kits to

There’s points and there’s points.  Factory samples are excellent, aftermarket less so.  Spend the time to make sure the poi t’s rubbing block hits the cam square and two point faces as well.  A dab of point grease is good practice.  Sad to say AC Delco stopped making point grease.  My tube lasted 30 years.  Had to replace it with Bosch points grease.  I imagine there will be lots left for my heirs to enjoy.

I just switched to a PerTronix Ignitor, no more points to worry about. My car is definitely happier as well.

"worry about points" ???   why would one worry about points?   I've had my Elan Sprint for a few years now and several thousand miles later haven't even touched them.   Just got back from the LOG39 road trip without a hiccup.

Even "IF" they needed replacement or adjustment or some other attention, isn't that why we enjoy wrenching and tinkering with them?  It makes us a part of our cars and this simple task is not a deal breaker (unintended pun) for me....

One problem, easily alleviated, with fitting electronic ignition to the standard distributor is that people then stop regularly servicing their distributors.  You still need to oil the advance pivots so they don't wear or seize.  Once a year is all that is required.

Yeah, I think there's something in that.

I've bought supposedly compatible points in the past and even the stamped metal parts were poorly made.
Eventually went for a Lumenition optical unit because it also negated dizzy shaft wear.
