Need photo of TC rear wheel well
« on: Sunday,May 26, 2019, 11:55:56 AM »
Ok guys, for the life of me I can’t remember what the strut (BK4 in the parts manual) attaches to and I don’t have a photo. Can someone kick in my brain cells with a photo of the rear wheel well that shows this strut.

My TC is several miles away, but the square end of the part you have bolts through the body to the similar end of the strut that braces the seat-belt mount. The other end is secured by the top damper mounting bolt.
Hope th at helps.

The right hand end bolts to the rear chassis side to side brace, to which the top of the shock absorbers bolt.

The square plate has a matching square plate which bolts on either side of the fibreglass side of the engine compartment,  (about where the brake servo goes on the left side).

That matching square plate has a similar metal rod which attaches to the diagonal and cross braces on the fire wall, and the top of the seat belt then bolts to it.

In effect the two rods connected by the plates, take the load from the seatbelt and connects it to the back of the chassis.

Certified,

Attached is a photo from my 74 TCS - left hand side.  The forward end of the brace attaches to the bolt that secures the seat belt shoulder harness.  The rear end attaches to a square plate that on the other side of the fiberglass that then attached to the rear suspension - weird deal!

Thanks guys. For some reason I don’t remember the metal strut attaching to the top shock mount. I went back and looked at my photos and there it is. There was too much rust hiding it!
