WTB Smiths Classic Voltmeter
« on: Friday,August 31, 2018, 08:38:08 AM »
I’m looking for the original style voltmeter as per picture. All the new ones now have a battery logo on the dial. If anyone has one for sale please pm me.
Thanks
Stuart

When I got my volt meter, I wasn't able to find one without the battery icon on it either. If you don't have any better luck than I had and it's really important to you, you can have the face of the gauge re silk screened. I considered it because I have a bit of a hodge podge of Smiths gauges but I never investigated it so I don't know how much it costs.

Now this might be a case of the seller using any old picture but how about this one ?

I've seen several smiths gauges (oil/temperature) that look similar to ours and they've been described as "Smiths Classic". If you go to the Smiths website about half way down there's a reference to the gauges having two part numbers, one of which is "without the symbol".

Edit to try again on the link..... (I think I must have chopped off the end bit or something ?)

Your ebay link didn't work for me but searching for Smiths voltmeter, I found this one that might be acceptable:

IIRC, the light colored gauges did not have the icon on it but all the current black ones do - I guess it was the guy at Nisonger (Smiths dealer and service in the US) told me that.

Being as you are in the UK, contact Smiths directly and see what they can do.  They do list a voltmeter without the symbol.  The part number is ABV2220-21C.

Thanks guys for the input. I’ve checked JJRALLYSPORT and DeamonTweeks and both show on their web sites the old style meter but they can only supply the new version with the battery icon. Smiths Instruments have not returned my email but I think they may only supply the new version.
I will have some fun searching all the auto jumbles I can get to.
Cheers
Stuart

I found the correct matching Voltmeter directly from Smiths Instruments trading under
Caerbont Automotive Instruments Ltd.
Unit 1, Caerbont Industrial Estate
Caerbont, Abercrave,
Swansea, SA9 1SH
For anyone who wants to know.
Jan and Gavin were very helpful in finding me the correct part.
