plastic window scoop??

Killing the cold morning hours with youtube, looking at Europa and stupid people tricks videos.
In a Japanese Europa video, I noticed a plastic air scoop, diverter, deflector - I don't know exactly what to call it.
Fits in the side window to divert fresh air into interior.
Something like it would be much appreaciated by me during warmer weather.
I tried various search terms in google, but could not find anything similar.
Has anyone seen these for sale, or have a suggestion what to call it for a internet search?

As you said, it's not very clear, but to me it looks like it was fashioned from aluminum and would be an evening project.  Speaking of scoops, I just finalized my plan to increase the visibility of my car on the road by deciding to add LED lighting to the inside of hte NACA ducts.  I figure. they're high enough to stand out in a rear-view mirror and... Well, I think even though they wouldn't help the oil cooler or the carburetion, they'd at least look cool:)

Thanks for the input. I'd had that idea of using aluminum or sheet metal for such a device, but have not got around to it, like so many other things.
I'll probably be making another stop by sheet metal shop soon, unless I run accross some on the internet.
I re-watched the video and got  a couple more captures, showing more detail. Pretty nifty looking device.
I do like your LED in the side scoops. I like the accent LED's provide. Anything that helps to be seen in a Europa is a plus  - I feel safer driving my bike.

That last shot shows inner fins... Something that would be difficult to fabricate out of aluminum, unless you know how to weld that stuff.  It looks like something manufactured or made on a 3D printer.  I've been printing bunches of things, and they usually show up on "Thingiverse" or "Instructables".  Check those websites out.  You may get lucky.

Gentlemen,

I think keeping what little visibility you have might be important.  Therefore, you might consider going on-line and look at aircraft window vents like Snap Vents (no affiliation).  They mount these on the side windows of puddle jumpers to give some ventilation to the cockpit.  These vents are clear little round scoops and some are adjustable.  I'd expect it would cut down your fabrication time considerably if you could make something like these work for you.

Don't you guys get enough air flow through the eyeball vents at the end of the dash ?  I know the motor/fan is pretty poor on it's own but if the plenum chamber has a good foam seal then once on the move I get a steady blast of cold air from the side vents even with the motor switched off.

(in fact I can't remember the last time I switched it on, it might not even work for all I know  )

edit to add - don't they have clear plastic ones on racing saloons ?  I'm sure I've seen something similar stuck on a perspex side window to vent the cabin ?

I like the scoops because they appear as if they can be easily inserted or removed without altering the car.  I wonder how noisy they are?

You could post your question about what they are and where they came from as a comment on the YouTube video. I realize it's Japanese but many more Japanese speak English than vice versa....

As for the dash vents, they help (I have replaced the foam seal on the plenum chamber) but the Europa cockpit is hot!!  The rake of the windshield with my black interior makes for a well designed solar oven.  Couple this with the 100C/ 200F coolant pipes basically running through the center of the cockpit and the engine about 6 inches behind your back....  Hmmm.... I'm ready for this snow to melt so I can enjoy being cooked!

I wonder if anyone has experimented with hinging the quarter glass between the operable window and the windshield.  All the ventilation you'll ever need without affecting the looks one iota.

Visibility- Thanks. I've always fretted about people not seeing me, not if my vision was obstructed.  Thanks for the tip on the Snap vents, I'll give then a look.

As 3929R mentions, hot! here in central NC, on a summer afternoon. the hot air coming thru the vents, is a touch warm. Couple that with where I work is from 34 to 50F,  it is enough to make me not drive the Europa to work many days.

Good idea. How I do miss the side vents. I may hit the junk yard today and see if I can find some vent windows for the frames.

Like you mentioned, being removable and easy to use appealed to me. Also looked like they probably are inexpensive. I'll post a comment on the video, and see if I get a response.

Do you know if anyone has ever put a siding rear window in a Europa?  I have noticed a lot of pickup trucks that have them, especially on the ones that only have 2 windows that go up and down.

If you didn't catch this on another thread, the August 1985 issue of ReMarque has instructions on making a window vent.  I was looking for something else, so I didn't catch all the detail, but if you want, I can re-re-search it for you.

No, I've not seen that article - or actually any issue of ReMarque (relative Lotus newbie here).
