TC interior door openers wanted
« on: Sunday,April 29, 2018, 03:58:10 PM »
Does anyone know a supplier of these interior door openers in the US? I see that most of the UK Lotus suppliers carry them.

Mine are rusted inside and I would like to replace them.

They are similar to those on an MGB and I think the MG Midget. Off hand, I don't remember the differences but I think if you have all the parts to yours, you should be able to make the MG parts work. With some Simichrome or other metal polish, you could probably make it nicer than you expect. Also mine came with a square of vinyl that matched the seats that was glued under the flipper handle and that might cover the rusty parts that were left after the polishing attempt.

Here’s a listing for some handles for an MGB,
 https://www.ebay.com/itm/MGB-GT-Interior-Door-Handle-Set-With-Trim-MG2519/372262419700?hash=item56ac91bcf4:g:wMcAAOSwX2xavE-Y&vxp=mtr
They look identical with the exception of the mounting bracket. My handles also have a hole for a mounting screw behind the plastic handle.

Here are new units, which I used.  https://www.northwestimportparts.com/MGB-Misc.-Interior-i47.aspx

A small amount of cutting on the MGB mounting tabs is required, but it is very simple

Thanks for everyone’s input. Greatly appreciated.

I was surprised these were so rusted only on the inside of the handle. The interior metal parts of the door (like the motor) look brand new. Must be a very poor plating job.

BDA, polishing won’t work as the plating is almost gone. Interesting idea about gluing vinyl on the inside of the catch. But I’m still going to replace them.

Just to be clear, when my car was new, it had the matching vinyl squares glued on the inside of the handle.
