Lotus South West Inc (Texas)
« on: Monday,April 23, 2018, 02:49:54 AM »
Good Morning everyone,

I am in the UK and have an S1A which I have imported from the US.
It was originally exported, then sold by Lotus South West Inc Texas (US) around December 1967 - January 1968 and I wondered if any further history could be gathered?
Can anybody on the other side of the pond help me with any information about Lotus South West Inc? They were one of the US distributors and I’ve no idea if they still exist in any form?

Thanks,
Mark

There is a registry here: http://www.lotus-europa.com/registry.html. lotus-europa.com also has a "lost not found" section. Dave Bean (davebean.com) also used to keep a registry but you might have to call them to see if they have any information on your car since their registry is not posted on their website. The sad thing is that neither of these sites are actively maintained any more.

The Lotus-Europa. com registry is still maintained.  The entire site is not as active but the sales and registry get irregular updates.

Tracing an S1s history is a tall task.  Mine was bought locally but may have come from 4000 km away.  It was mixed with S2 parts and had 5 different paint colours.  Early dealers were small operations that came and went quickly.

thank you for the replies, sadly it doesn’t look like I’ll find out much more than the factory’s information.
