Hi folks,
No Europa content whatsoever but a couple of things I've found over the last few weeks which have interested/amused me and I think might appeal to some of you folks....
Firstly, "Project Binky" a series of videos on Youtube by 2 guys who call themselves "Bad Obsession Motorsport". The first few episodes are very amateurish in production but all the more appealing as you get the sense of humour from the guys. Basically they're taking a Toyota GT4 and putting the 4wd drivetrain into a 1960s design mini. Yes, it's a challenge and there's not much of the Mini left but the way they approach the problems I found quite fascinating. Made me think of our own Roddymac at several times.
Here's the first episode, stick with it for a couple of episodes and it becomes more professional & lighthearted.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hCPODjJO7sSecondly "How to Build a car" by Adrian Newey. a book on F1 car design. Now I'm not an F1 fan, or any of the "wheels outside" cars if I'm honest and so I'm a bit late coming to this book. But folks kept saying it was good and they were right, it is a fascinating insight into the 1980s onwards and how someone made their way in the sport.
You really need the "dead tree format" book although you can also pick up an E-book version for the Kindle. But there are several illustrations, his rough sketches of designs & parts for example, which aren't good on the Kindle and are easier to see on paper. In the UK the book is now discounted at several places and at a tenner a pop (thebookpeople) it's a good deal.
