S1 ashtrays..

Good afternoon from a wet and windy South West UK!

a strange question... my S1a is fitted with 3 ashtrays (one in the dashboard and one in each door?!)
is this a common fitting or was it more likely that a previous owner added these?
(and, a car so small, how many ashtrays did they need?)

Looking at my Elan plus 2 it is the same. 3 ashtrays. I think in the 60s the ashtray is equivalent to today's cup holders.  The more the better LOL.

S1 Europas came with a single ashtray in the dash under the radio cut out.  It is different from the ashtray used in the S2 and up.
