I do most of my own work and have been fooling around with Triumphs, Mustangs and even a Pantera of late ever since starting to drive a long time ago!

Looking for Gordini Cross-flow complete cylinder head to put on my R16 TS (why or Why not)?

We have had the 1971 Europa for a few years now and are nearing the painting stage with most of the corrective work being complete. The Europa has a completely redone chassis, working with Richard out of the UK; the engine was rebuilt stock by a friend prior to purchasing the car and I'm not concerned with it or the gear box.
Just looking into whether or not it makes sense to spice things up a little; if the parts can be found?

It's not just the head, you also need:

- camshaft (different valve order)
- distributor (different shaft length)
- pistons (different shape for the different combustion chamber)
- different intake and exhaust manifolds

Best to find a complete engine.

I aware of the needs and have read all of the articles multiple times; the two things that had not shown up was the "different valve order" and "distributor length" or I just missed it.

If you think the best way is to find a complete engine; I don't have issue with that!

Any thoughts on where one might be?

Don't really have issue with continuing along the charted course but it would be fun!

Well the best donor would be an early Renault 17 Gordini with a high compression 807-13 with a close-ratio, 365 transaxle.  A wee bit hard to find though.  As the R17G progressed, compression got lower and the transaxle got swapped for a 395: still pretty good.  Later crossflow engines often have short cams with the water pump and ancillaries run off the crank.  Long nose cams are scarce.

Another way to go is to fit Toyota 4GE (?) engine.  John Pels does occasional runs of the required adapter plate.

The 4AGE engine comes from a Corolla GT or GTi or MR2

About 125 bhp in standard form on its own injection. 1600cc, 16v TC.

Thanks for the thoughts guys! I strongly believe in "period correct" enhancements and have had great success without hurting the potential value of the vehicles. This particular car was a "one owner car" that was intact and I'll try keeping it close to stock or period correct. If someone is rattling around in their bits and pieces and finds a lost treasure that could help please let me know!
