Weber 36 DCD - Where's my vacuum!
« on: Wednesday,September 27, 2017, 07:30:04 AM »
I've installed a Weber 36 DCD on my S2 and ticks over like a beauty. Issue is there is no vacuum advance port on the carb and so lacking the advance on the distributor. I can really feel it driving up the road.

Below is the image i've found with the vacuum and the pipe that I've indicated that is missing. It's blanked off on mine.

Is anyone aware of this carb and if I am missing something? Is there a way to add a vacuum on this carb?

Thanks.
Paul

Most of the performance Weber carbs are built for a specific application.  Different applications can have significant differences in carb spec.  The DCD you bought doesn't come with a ported vacuum connection.  It is possible, but not easy, to drill out the carb body to suit.  Location and size of the hole in the venturi is critical.  Another option is to simply hook up top manifold vacuum and use a vacuum solenoid with a throttle switch to control the vacuum.
