Glad you figured it out and there's nothing to worry about! Just out of curiosity, what oil do you use?

I have thoroughly enjoyed following this link, a great story with a positive outcome.  I love the way the group pulled together and tried to think 'out of the box'. Not sure anyone would have spotted the LED issue but I'm sure many of us will remember it.

I remember using Kendall GT1 motor oil in my first Europa back in the 70's...it was green!

The oil I'm using is Millers Oil, Classic performance, 20w50. It is supposed to have a high level of zink.

I remember reading about zinc levels in Millers oils and they were one of the highest on the market bar some motorbike and racing oils IIRC. I wonder if that's the reason for the reflections ?

This thread outcome does apply to me as well, I've just installed 3 LED lamps as a trial over the back end of my workshop, which is usually the "engine bay" end of the car.  And I use 2 LED hand lamps as well so I ought to do the test and see if Mobil 1 has the same curious effects the next time I top up.

Some aircraft oils have a dye that fluoresces under UV light to help track down leaks. That might be what is happening here.
