At £125.00 = $150.00 someone must be desperate for originality.

We could commission China to make a batch of 700 and treat ourselves to a new one, for less than a quarter of that cost each.

I'm not surprised it sold, used ones have gone for similar or even higher prices.   Was it expensive ? For me, yes, that's a lot to pay for a Ford Zephyr ashtray but then again if I was into concours competition then I reckon I'd pay it for a NOS one.

People are paying north of £500 for Elan steering wheels when the only difference between that and a normal Springall wheel is a stamp of Colin Chapman's signature on a single spoke. Now someone getting hold of a stamp to do that little operation would be on to a nice little earner for rainy days !

I'm guessing he's an autojumbler - a guy who makes either a living or pocket money by trading old parts at the autojumbles that we have over here. It's amazing just what parts turn up as NOS (New Old Stock) even now when old garages are closed down, etc.  It wouldn't surprise me to hear that he'd found half a dozen in a dusty cupboard from a Ford dealership having a clearout.

If it's like the Bit Coin market might be time to buy and hold. These could be worth $500 each in a few years..........

The guy has definitely found a box of them hidden at the back of a dusty Ford dealership. I don't think I've ever seen so many NOS items surfacing at once !

If you think originality and ash trays are expensive, it seems Lotus Twin Cam air filters are like rocking horse sh*t.

Form an orderly queue please.
