TCS carpets from Banks
« on: Wednesday,May 17, 2017, 05:31:18 PM »
Hi all,

Has anyone had a carpet set from Banks?

Seems a great price - was wondering about the quality and fit.

Cheers,

I hear Richard's carpet kits are good, but I don't have any experience with them. I would recommend AutoMat (https://www.autointeriors.biz/). They have good kits in different carpet fabric and colors. I have a set in my car. I had the Lotus roundel embroidered in my mats which I think is a nice touch.

I have bought 7 sets and fitted my 2nd last weekend.

They are cut larger than needed, to pattern, and are very easy to cut to shape with a Stanley knife.

I stick them to the underfelt using spray contact adhesive (Evo Stik)

If you take it slowly and carefully, you can make a decent job of fitting them, but don't forget the holes for the seat runners and the beat belt anchorages, before finally gluing. They are not easy to find afterwards.

If you have a later model with the box on the rear bulkhead, you may need to renew the hardboard panel if it is warped. I used 4.5mm ply, which is very easy to cut to shape with a jigsaw.

Let me know if you need more info.

Make sure you specify LHD or RHD when ordering, as the mats around the pedals are different.

I forgot to say that the extreme bottom vertical end of the footwell does not come in the Bank package, so I am using off cuts from the firewall panel to put down the other extreme end where joins are not noticed.

I like Richard and have spent a lot of money with him, but after 4129R's post, I reiterate my advice to go to AutoMat.
