Another basket case. This is my 7th and last. This one came from Wisconsin.

I don't know much about Wisconsin, but I assume it snows a lot there, hence the snow plough on the front.

Not too sure about the larger rear wheel arches. I don't like either, so the bodyshop will have to cut those off when it goes in for the necessary respray.

It was supposed to have 4 new tyres fitted. When I turned up at Felixstowe port to collect it, 3 tyres were completely flat, and with no keys, it was a bitch to get on the trailer.

I'm sure you've gotten the hang of them by now! At least it looks undamaged if not unmolested. Too bad the seller wasn't straight with you but at least he wasn't another Steve Cannon!

I would really like to hear when someone catches up with Steve Cannon and gives him his just deserts !

4 tyres is not a deal breaker, but shifting the car onto the trailer on a Friday afternoon, when the shipping depot was about to close, was "challenging".

The snow plough has got to come off very soon. I hate it. After that, now that I know a quick way to get the doors off, it is all fairly simple.

Dear 4525R,

4483R was in a horrible place, and not being looked after, but a nice man in Wisconsin wanted to find someone to make 4483R look good again.

So after a scary ride in a big steel container, over the big pond, 4483R returned to the Country of her birth.

Now she is 45 minutes drive away from the factory who made her, with lots of nice people who made her helping to make her as good as new.

And she will live happily ever after.

They do get easier with experience, plus I am finding quicker ways to do things.

This weekend, repair two rusty topped petrol tanks, unless the longer milling machine bit arrives. Ebay tells me it is on its way from Hong Kong, with an ETA of 7th October. Have they strapped it to a donkey?

New petrol tanks are around £250 ($300) each, so a potential saving of about £475, as the repair is cheap, but time consuming. About 3 hours per tank to remove rust, repair and paint.

It is amazing when you put your mind to work, just what you can repair/restore. Unfortunately as yet I cannot weld, so replacement seats are beyond present skills. Maybe evening TIG welding classes.

Wow, that is one shiny black car and it looks great with the aftermarket wheels, they really suit the car.

After taking the seats out by drilling, and finding 10 x 9mm dum-dum bullets under the drivers seat, the seats had to be stripped down to the bare shell and repaired before re-trimming. He is on set #5 at the moment, and soon will need #6 to work on.

The foam came off very easily using a painter's stripping knife. It took about 45 mins to strip the seats to bare very rusty metal. Lots of drilling of pop rivets of 2 sizes.

It took about 2 hours on each shell to remove the rust with a battery drill and round wire brush, then repair the rusted and missing bits by pop riveting plates on, bashing the pop rivets flat with a hammer, and them spraying with grey primer ready for the re-trim.

This was the worst one.

Where did you buy your front spoiler?  I had one on my car but now it is in about 30 pieces in a grocery bag after on off course visit.  Mine originally had the 'LOTUS' in raised letters, but I sanded them off before I painted it low gloss black.
